Sports Structure

In Spain the federations of the different adapted sports are responsible of the development and regulation of each speciality, at organisational, competitive and regulation level. There are different federations, related to every disability and every sport. The main federations are:

  1. Sport for Physically disabled (FEDMF)
  2. Sport for Intellectual handicap (FEDDI)

The regional federations play an important role in the organisation and management of the adapted sport in every region. Examples of this are:

  1. Federation of Madrid Sport for Physical Disabled (FMDMF)
  2. Federation of Valencia for Disabled Sport (FESA)

The Spanish Paralympic Committee (CPI) is the responsible of the determination of the different criteria and management of the Paralympic movement in Spain. It involves the different representation of the federations and the selection of the Spanish team. The “Spanish Paralympic Committee (CPI) contemplate tree fields of elite sports:

  • Elite sport for people with mental disorders
  • Elite sport for people with physic disorders
  • Elite sport for people with sensorial disorders
