Sports Structure
On a governmental level, The Ministry of Justice is responsible for sports, including sports for people with a disability.
The national Federation for people with a disability is the Swedish Sports Federation for Disabled (SHIF). Swedish Deaf Sport Federation SDI
The purpose of this national association was to sponsor deaf clubs, assist in their establishment and organization and recruit deaf and hearing members, i.e. organize deaf sports in the whole country. Prosthetic Athletes of Sweden
We would like to help people with prosthetics gain even more active lives. The association's aim is to conduct several different activities. The association wishes to support active participants in their athletic endeavors.
Rekryteringsgruppen (RG)
RG works with the physical and mental training of physically disabled individuals, mainly those with spinal cord injuries. Our aim is to help disabled people develop the strength and self-confidence to succeed in their ambition to become independent.
Svenskt Utvecklingscentrum för Handikappidrott (SUH)
SUH is a national development centre for disabled sports. In Bollnäs SUH has good facilities like Höghammarhallen – the first indoor stadium for athletes ad physical education totally adjusted to athletes with disabilities. The specialities of SUH are psychophysiology, power, speed and motor control. SUH also works to support the process of integration and inclusion.
